Healthper is not a HIPAA covered entity. Unlike a doctor or health plan, Healthper is not regulated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a federal law that provides for certain protections of the use and disclosures of an individual’s identifiable health information. You control what health information is added to your personal Healthper account. If you authorize a HIPAA covered entity such as your healthcare provider to provide information to Healthper on your behalf, that information as provided to Healthper will no longer be subject to the HIPAA protections.
